K-pop star Jin from BTS celebrated his discharge from South Korea’s mandatory military service on Wednesday.
The joyous occasion was marked by a heartfelt reunion with his bandmates, who welcomed him with warm hugs and a musical performance by RM on the saxophone.

All seven members of BTS, the globally renowned boy band, have been fulfilling their military duties, a requirement for all South Korean men under 30 due to ongoing tensions with North Korea.
Jin, still in his military uniform, was greeted by his fellow bandmates J-hope, V, RM, Jungkook, and Jimin, who had taken leave from their duties to celebrate the occasion. They presented him with a giant bouquet of flowers, and RM played the saxophone, delighting everyone with the familiar hook of BTS’s hit song “Dynamite.”
The group has been on a self-declared hiatus since 2022. Jin, the eldest member and the first to enlist, was released from his army base in Yeoncheon County, located in northern South Korea.

HYBE, BTS’s agency, announced Jin’s discharge on Weverse, a social media platform for superfans, earlier this week. Despite fans being advised not to attend, a few dedicated admirers were present outside the base.
His release comes just before the 11th anniversary of BTS’s debut, with HYBE’s Seoul office and local cafes adorned in purple decorations to celebrate the milestone.
