Actor Jussie Smollett is no longer a victim but a suspect in the case of his attack.
Popular “Empire” actor Jussie Smollett homophobic attack story is getting messier by the day and now he is under investigation for allegedly having a hand in the planning for the attack on himself.
According to a report by the CNN, Mr. Smollet is facing a felony charge of disorderly conduct for allegedly filing a false report claiming two men attacked him last month, a Chicago Police Department spokesman tweeted Wednesday night.
Smollett’s transformation from victim to suspect in a reported attack that captured international attention and especially on social media with many people who came out to show their support after the attack feeling duped when it emerged that the attack may have been a hoax. Some are calling for justice to prevail.
As reported yesterday by The Sauce, Jussie’s career may be in trouble, he plays the role of Jamal Lyon on the FOX drama series and his role on the show has been drastically cut in the wake of those accusations.
Nigerian brothers Olabinjo and Abimbola Osundairo were arrested in connection to the alleged attack but have since been released because it is now believed that Smollett paid the brothers to orchestrate the assault. Smollett denies playing a role in his attack, according to a statement from his attorneys. He had earlier claimed that he was attacked early January 29th, 2019 by two men who yelled “racial and homophobic slurs.” Smollett alleged that one attacker put a rope around his neck and poured an unknown chemical substance on him before running away.
