Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) students yesterday evening went on the rampage, destroying property of unknown value, following the death of a student at the Juja Campus hospital run by the university.
Police had a tough time controlling the irate students who accused medics at the facility of negligence. The students blocked part of Thika road at Juja and engaged police in running battles as tear gas canisters and stones exchanged paths.
Sources within the student fraternity say the staff at the hospital left the student unattended after a food poisoning incident.
âAfter visiting the hospital, all the doctors were arrogantly ignorant of the matter and even refused to give explanation on how the student just died,â a student official said
We as JKUAT comrades want to know where the hospital staff were….we want them to be accountable for Gideon’s death#justiceforgideonJkuat

Cops from Juja Police station were forced to fire in the air to disperse students at around 9pm as by- standers ran for safety.
Students were due to start CATs today and some expressed their relief that classes have been postponed indefinitely.
