Jameson Connects Makes Comeback After Almost 3-Year Hiatus And Brings Nairobi To A Standstill

Renowned HipHop event Jameson Connects Kenya made its comeback on Saturday May 21 after an almost 3-year hiatus occasioned by the COVID-19 pandemic and boy was it quite the loud return!

The concert was held at Carnivore Grounds and was preceded by a press conference at Hemingways where the different acts promised fans a fun-fiiled night, with all of them agreeing that all Jameson Connects concerts are unrivaled.

Contrary to past editions that were characteristically headlined by huge HipHop acts like Ty Dolla $ign and TI, this year’s Jameson Connects Kenya had an all-DJ lineup. The all-star turntablists, most of whom are HipHop jockeys rocked the crowd all night, shuffling between classics and new-age bangers.

The stage set design entailed propped-up stages where the DJs played on as the revelers a few metres below them hyped them up. Media personality Amina Abdi played the night’s host and kept the crowd’s energy alive while putting on a show with her several outfit changes. She would occasionally keep patrons alive by keeping them abreast on who would be playing next.

Deejays Envy, Mannie Fresh, MGM, Adrian, G-Money, Maphorisa, Stylez, Charlie Sloth and Musa Keys all kept  the visibly excited revelers on their toes with their different music sets, most of which were HipHop-laden, as is characteristic of Jameson Connects.

Unlike many other concerts that are marred with controversy and bad reputation, Kenyans took to social media singing praises for this year’s edition of Jameson Connects. Here are some of the reactions:
