Spotify has unveiled an exciting new social listening feature called “Jam,” allowing up to 32 users to share a musical experience, regardless of their subscription status.
Here’s a concise breakdown of how this feature functions:
For Spotify Premium users, initiating a Jam session is straightforward. By accessing the three-dot menu or the speaker icon on the app, users can select “Start a Jam.” The host gains control over participant management, track selection, and the ability to grant others the power to add or remove tracks.
Joining a Jam session offers multiple options. Hosts can share a session link, use Bluetooth for device connections, provide a QR code, or simply join via the same Wi-Fi network. Participants can view profiles and track contributions, and Spotify uses collaborative listening preferences to suggest tracks, a feature reminiscent of the Blend app.
Crucially, the social listening experience comes at no additional cost for Premium subscribers. However, there are rumblings of potential price adjustments for Spotify Premium subscriptions in the future.
It’s a seamless and enjoyable way for friends to connect through music, with Spotify’s Jam offering a communal and dynamic listening experience.
