A man who accused Kevin Spacey of sexual assault has handed over text messages sent to his girlfriend about the alleged incident to be used as evidence.
The unnamed man previously accused the disgraced actor – who has been accused of sexual harassment by several men – of sexually assaulting him at a bar in Nantucket, Massachusetts, back in 2016 when he was just a teenager, and has now given in text messages sent to his girlfriend at the time to be used as evidence in his ongoing court case against Spacey.
The messages, obtained by TMZ, are from screenshots taken by the accuser and provided to investigators, and detail the alleged abuse he encountered at the hands of the 59-year-old actor.
In the messages, the accuser writes: “He’s hanging around me in the bar. He got my number and asked me to come out with him.”
The accuser then claims Spacey “grabb[ed his] leg and s**t” and “grabbed [his] d**k like eight times”, as well as “pulled [his] zipper down” and “reached down [his] pants”.
Another message reads: “No I’m serious. One sec. I’m calling my mom. I’m serious. I’m dead serious. I swear on everyone. I’m [not] f***ing around. I’m drunk but I’m not f***ing around.”
Lawyers for the ‘American Beauty’ actor say the texts appear to pick up mid-conversation and claim they don’t tell the full story, because most of them lack timestamps.
The lawyers also believe the man could have deleted some messages that change the context of the conversation.
Meanwhile, Spacey recently lost his bid to have the identity of another sexual assault accuser unveiled, after arguing that concealing his real name could “delay the opening of discovery and disclosure”.
The masseur had accused the former ‘House of Cards’ star of forcing him to touch his genitals and groping him during a massage in October 2016.
In March, a judge refused Spacey’s request, saying: “Defendant’s request to order Plaintiff to reveal his identity is inappropriate given that Plaintiff’s Motion to Proceed Anonymously is currently pending with the Court.”
Spacey was fired from Netflix drama ‘House of Cards’ over previous sexual assault allegations made against him and was replaced in the drama ‘All The Money In The World’.
A report by The Sauce mentioned, “Spacey was alleged to have made sexual advances towards actor Anthony Rapp back in 1986 when Rapp was 14.”
“In a statement released at the time the allegation was made, Spacey apologized for his “deeply inappropriate drunken behavior”. He said in the statement: “I have a lot of respect and admiration for Anthony Rapp as an actor. I’m beyond horrified to hear his story. I honestly do not remember the encounter, it would have been over 30 years ago. But if I did behave as he describes, I owe him the sincerest apology for what would have been deeply inappropriate drunken behavior, and I am sorry for the feelings he describes having carried with him all these years.”
In November 2017, he entered a treatment facility and has remained out of the public eye since.
Spacey is an American actor, producer, and singer. He played the lead character in the highly successful hit show ‘House of Cards’ until he was removed from the show after sexual assault allegations were presented from show staff.
