Dubai Princess Publicly Declares Divorce on Social Media

In an unprecedented move for UAE royalty, Sheikha Mahra bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has publicly announced her divorce from her husband via Instagram.

The princess is the daughter of Dubai’s ruler and UAE Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and announced the end of her marriage to her 691,000 followers on the popular social media platform.

“As you are occupied with other companions, I hereby declare our divorce,” Sheikha Mahra, 30, wrote in her post. “I divorce you, I divorce you, and I divorce you. Take care. Your ex-wife.”

Sheikha Mahra’s direct and candid message marks a significant departure from the traditional private handling of such matters within the UAE royal family. Her strong social media presence has allowed her to connect with a broad audience, and this public declaration highlights her willingness to embrace modern communication channels.
