The nominations for the 2023 MTV Europe Music Awards (MTV EMA) are out, featuring a host of African stars.
Nigerian stars Burna Boy and Asake, Tanzanian Diamond Platnumz, South African Tyler ICU and Cameroonian Libianca have been nominated for the 2023 Best African Act.
The best Afrobeats category will see countrymen Burna Boy, Asake, Ayra Starr, Rema and Davido battle it out alongside Uganda’s Aya Nakamura.
Burna Boy’s nomination is for the Best live act, making him the first African artist to be nominated in this category.
The hit song ‘Calm Down’ by Nigeria’s Rema and Selena Gomez has received nominations for Best Song and Best Collaboration.
The prestigious MTV Europe Music Awards are set for the 5th of November in Paris, France.
