Beloved Kenyan comedian and radio presenter Auntie Jemimah is hot on the wheels of selling out two shows at the Kenya National Theatre.
The hilarious creator who does the bulk of her skits in Kikuyu held the two shows dubbed ‘Maitú Múkabete’ on August 4 and 11 respectively, with the latter being informed by the success and demand that emanated from the former, as she had initially only one show.
“Due to public demand! Show number two! Wengi walisema wamefungiwa nje, worry no more, we’ve got you! On the 11th of AUGUST (Next week) MAITU MUKABETE will be staged AGAIN at The Kenya National Theatre,” She wrote while announcing the second show.
Days after the second show, it would also sell out as an elated Jemimah announced.
Footage from the two shows indicates what became of them – laughter-laden faces, smiles and epic energy. Renowned names like Njugush, Maureen Waititu, Abel Mutual and Celestine Ndinda among others were pictured in attendance.
Auntie Jemimah is synonymous with her edgy skits that depict the stereotypical Kikuyu woman and mother, a niche that has seen her stand out amongst her contemporaries.
