Comedian Obinna Secures The Bag, Tells Off Naysayers After Landing New Radio Job

Popular Kenyan comedian Oga Obinna is winning after landing a lucrative job at KISS FM.

Early this week, the funnyman announced that he was the new morning show co-host at Kiss FM alongside Kamene Goro. He is replacing fellow entertainer Jalang’o who left to vie for the Lang’ata parliamentary seat.

In an Instagram post, Oga Obinna celebrated his wins, toasted to his detractors, and talk downs, and gave a shout-out to the boys he shared struggles with. For Obinna, the road to this feat was riddled with rejections, layoffs, mistreatment, gossip, and even derision from colleagues, friends, and strangers.

“I have always wanted to do a breakfast show on radio, and for it to happen on Kiss FM, it’s a wrap. Mama, we made it. Even if I only do it for a month, my resume is changing immediately after I get on air,” posted Obinna.

It has been speculated that Obinna has hit the jackpot with this new job earning a whooping Ksh 750,000 a month. He however refused to comment on the exact amount but said he is very happy because he is receiving 6 times his previous salary at Nation Fm.

“I did not say anything, but what I will say is, it is somewhere between …but what I want to say is, what I’m being paid is good let’s say it is 6 times what I was being paid previously,” he explained.

His crowning achievement as he joins the radio station is that he is the first presenter on Kenyan radio to wear all hats in terms of radio programs – late-night show, evening show, drive show, mid-morning show, and now breakfast show.

Obinna was among the four comedians among them Owago Onyiro who had been lined up to replace Jalang’o.
