I am able to facebook permanently on one tab, use Tweeter on another, open google to search important stuff such as news, sports and answers to quizes (on many tabs), then download songs and movies simulataneously on torrents. in total i have used 10+ tabs at once doing different things. when there are facebook applications, i also open then on different tabs so as to retain the original fb tab on my home page

I once went upcountry on holiday and since I was nowhere near a cyber cafe, there was no way I was going to be left “in the dark”. I simply had to pull out my Safaricom modem and first logged on to Facebook & Twitter to catch up on friends activities, opened my Yahoo account to check mail, opened the DStv website for subscriber updates, checked out two other sports websites (Supersport & NewsNow) for my regular football and rugby matches fixtures and reviews; I also Skyped my friends living in the diaspora – all these at a go, quite an uphill task for my Toshiba laptop but a piece of cake for the superfast Safaricom internet connection!

I would describe myself as a heavy internet user. Being a part time freelancer, I often find myself overloading my browser with multiple tabs to the point of crashing. In a typical browsing session, I start by opening my Facebook account to check on notifications. Next i open a new tab to check my email on gmail: which is closely followed by a tab to check my ovi mail. I also like reading the news and constantly visit the local news websites. This part particularly involves several tabs because i will keep comparing similar news reports from nation, standard and classic fm just to ensure i haven’t missed out on any detail. I also open my freelance accounts on freelancer and Elance to check on new jobs and employer feedback. I also turn on some rock music on grooveshark as I reply to my emails!
