American R&B artist Chris Brown has been taken into custody in the United Kingdom following charges linked to a violent incident at a London nightclub in 2023.
The 36-year-old singer appeared before Manchester Magistrates’ Court on Friday, where he faced allegations of grievous bodily harm. Prosecutors claim Brown launched an “unprovoked attack” on a music producer using a bottle during an altercation at Tape nightclub in central London on February 19, 2023.

Prosecutor Hannah Nicholls described the altercation as a “deliberate assault with a weapon in a crowded club environment.” Brown was reportedly arrested earlier this week at a hotel in Manchester, just weeks before he was due to start his international tour.
The Grammy-winning performer—known for chart-topping songs like Run It, Loyal, and Under the Influence—is scheduled to begin his “Breezy Bowl XX” tour on June 8 in the Netherlands, with additional stops planned across Europe, including in Manchester.
However, his legal troubles have cast uncertainty over the tour’s kickoff. Judge Joanne Hirst ordered Brown to remain in custody pending a hearing at London’s Southwark Crown Court on June 13.
