Tanzanian Bongo Flava sensation Zuchu has released her highly anticipated debut album, Peace and Money. This marks her first full-length body of work since her breakout EP I Am Zuchu and her 2020 collaboration Side2Side with Diamond Platnumz.
The recently released 13-track album is a testament to Zuchu’s artistic growth and her ability to blend diverse musical styles. With elements of Afrobeat, Bongo Flava, Singeli, and contemporary genres, the album showcases her versatility while staying rooted in her cultural heritage.
Peace and Money boasts a rich lineup of collaborations that amplify its appeal. The infectious Wale Wale, featuring her longtime mentor Diamond Platnumz, stands out as a powerhouse anthem. The vibrant Tinini pairs Zuchu with Kenya’s celebrated group H_Art The Band, delivering a cross-cultural musical experience. Other notable features include the heartfelt Till I Die with Nigerian sensation Spyro, the sultry Lollipop alongside Afrobeat star Yemi Alade, and the unapologetic I Don’t Care with South African hitmaker Sho Madjozi. The dreamy Lullaby featuring Majeed adds a melodic twist to the album’s diverse lineup.
Zuchu’s solo offerings dive deep into her personal journey. Songs like Mama and Nimechoka explore themes of love, resilience, and self-reflection. Meanwhile, upbeat tracks such as Antenna and Makonzi are sure to light up dance floors across the continent. The standout track Mwizi seamlessly blends traditional Swahili melodies with contemporary Afrobeat influences, reflecting Zuchu’s ability to innovate while remaining culturally grounded.
