Black Twitter Hilariously Renames The New Omicron Variant The Omarion Variant

RnB singer Omarion is on the receiving end of hilarious tweets, and it all has to do with the new COVID-19 variant that was recently reported.

A few days ago, WHO announced that a new variant of the novel Corona Virus had been discovered in South Africa, prompting all sorts of reactions the world over, but the most notable of them all was fans of the singer comparing his name to that of the new variant, pretty much naming it after him. The new strain has been named the Omicron variant, and the eerie semblance of the phonetics of it led to people likening to Omarion.

The best part of it all: Omarion is here for the jest and giggles! The Ice Box hitmaker, real name Omari Ishmael Grandberry,  responded to the comparisons in an interview with Yahoo Entertainment. “There is nothing more healing than music or a good laugh,” Omarion exclusively tells Yahoo Entertainment in response to his name suddenly trending on social media. I’m thankful to be able to give people both … even if it is at my expense. From the Omarion dance challenge to being superimposed on the new variant, the internet is forever undefeated,” he said.

The new variant has been reported to be found in South Africa, Australia, Europe, Israel and the United States. Health authorities have described it as a strain of concern and urged people to continue getting the booster vaccine shots to put it at bay.

Here are some of the most hilarious tweets digging at Omarion:

Since early on this year, the World Health Organization has named variants of the Virus by the Greek alphabet. From the Delta to the Epsilon variants, it has been somewhat of a Greek word tag of war.

Meanwhile, Omarion is on the beloved Millenium Tour with B2K (his old boy group), as he gears up for the release of his next album, Full Circle.
