Popular R&B singers Brandy and Monica will be going head to head on the next Verzuz Battle on Monday, August 31st 2020.
“Get ready for the queens!,” the official announcement of the event proclaimed on social media.

The duo will be trading off songs live from Tyler Perry Studios on the Verzuz Instagram account and Apple Music on Tuesday at 3 am East African time.
The duo is known for their 1998 hit ‘The Boy Is Mine’ and the subsequent ‘beef’ between them.
The pair reunited in 2012 to record their follow-up single “It All Belongs to Me,” a female empowerment anthem. Three years later, Monica went on record explaining there was never really a feud between her and Brandy, it was all “brilliant marketing” behind the track’s drama that has kept fans asking about it for years.
“People are still asking: ‘Who was the boy?’ and ‘Who got the boy?’ There was no boy! It just was a song!” Monica told HuffPost Live. “We played up the dramatics of it all, but I’m like, ‘Guys, we were 16 and 17…There was no boy and no beef.”
Two years ago, Brandy changed the lyrics to “the song is mine” during her set at the 2018 Essence Fest.
Brandy released her first album in eight years, B7, last month. Monica’s latest studio release was Code Red in 2015, which included guest features by Missy Elliot, Lil Wayne, Timbaland and Akon.
The competition, which sees a number of music heavyweights facing one another with their biggest hits, was launched in March.
So far has included guests such as Beenie Man vs Bounty Killer, Alicia Keyz vs John Legend, Erykah Badu vs Jill Scott, 2 Chainz vs Rick Ross, and DMZ vs Snoop Dogg.
