American Basketballer Dwyane Wade played his final home game in Miami on earlier this week ahead of his retirement.

Wade played his final home game with the Miami Heat on Tuesday night (09.04.19), and received a tribute he will never forget from President Barack Obama. In a pre-recorded video, former USA President Barack Obama praised Wade for his brilliant career.

Before tip-off, the Heat gave their departing superstar numerous tributes, celebrating his impressive NBA career in the presence of his fellow basketball stars like Lebron James. The biggest surprise of the night came when a prerecorded video of  Obama was played saying that he made everyone proud and that he hoped that the next phase of his life will be just as fulfilling.

“D-Wade! Congratulations on a great run,” Obama said in the video. “Now, I know what you’re going through because saying goodbye to a career that you love is never easy. I’ve been there. In my case though, I didn’t really have a choice. My knees were shot so I had to give up basketball forever.”

The father of four played 16 seasons in the NBA, almost entirely with the Heat, and ends his career with three NBA championship rings, one scoring title, and 13 appearances in the NBA All-Star game.

The 37-year-old Wade who is married to award-winning actress Gabrielle Union is the 10th-highest-scoring NBA player by total career playoff points scored (3,954).
