Nigerian Afrobeats star Ayra Starr has publicly dismissed rumors that her new management deal with Roc Nation includes a “no-dating” clause.
Speculation arose following the announcement of her partnership with the company, leading to claims on social media that the contract imposed strict restrictions on her personal life, including dating and starting a family.
The “Rush” singer recently signed on to Jay Z’s Roc Nation label for international management, and took to social media to silence the swirling rumors, question if she herself was even aware of the clause, which would be interpreted as a sure fire denial of the claims.

Following her announcement of the deal, reports began making the rounds, all prompted by a video from a popular social media creator. The claims speculated on a number of evidently backward and restrictive clauses in her contract. Such entailed:
1.The requirement that she seek Roc Nation’s approval for all musical collaborations.
2. A mandate that her public image, social media posts, and even her style of dress or public speech align with the label’s vision.
3. A ban on her having a boyfriend or being in a relationship.
4. A prohibition against starting a family for the duration of the contract, which was rumored to be five years.
The singer’s response has since helped quell the rumors.
