The highly anticipated film adaptation of Tomi Adeyemi’s best-selling novel Children of Blood and Bone continues to build excitement with new casting announcements.
Nigerian music sensation Ayra Starr and legendary actor Richard Mofe-Damijo are among the latest additions to the star-studded lineup.

Starr, who recently made her acting debut in Christmas in Lagos, joins the cast alongside Mofe-Damijo, a veteran of Nigeria’s film industry known for his leading roles in blockbusters like The Black Book. Also joining the project are Pamilerin Ayodeji and Shamz Garuba, both of whom were selected through last year’s public casting call. London-born American-Nigerian basketball player Temi Fagbenle rounds out the new additions.
Leading the film is The Woman King star Thuso Mbedu, who will portray the powerful protagonist, Zélie. Tosin Cole, known for Supacell, will take on the role of Tzain, Zélie’s older brother. Amandla Stenberg and Damson Idris are set to play Princess Amari and Prince Inan, while acclaimed British-Nigerian actor Chiwetel Ejiofor steps into the role of King Saran.
The movie boasts an impressive ensemble of Black talent from across the globe, each deeply connected to their African roots.
Adding to the film’s prestige, the cast also includes industry heavyweights such as Viola Davis, Idris Elba, Cynthia Erivo, Lashana Lynch, and Academy Award winner Regina King, who will bring Queen Nehanda to life.
