American Pop Star Madonna In Kenya For Charity

American pop superstar Madonna is in Kenya yet again.

The celebrated music icon is no stranger to the country, like a few other countries on the continent. She shared footage creating a mural in Kibera together with her children, with the 65-year-old writing: “My children created a mural of broken glass in Kibera in honor of the great work that Kennedy Obede is doing. SHOFCO, an organization he created as a child while living in the slums of Nairobi to improve the lives of families living in these challenging conditions, focusing on filtering the water, education, enabling loans for women and men to start up businesses and putting a stop to gender-based violence by empowering women, taking legal action and giving them a safe space to rebuild their lives.”

The Material Girl singer runs a charity organization dubbed Raising Malawi in Malawi that offers support to orphans and was started in 2006. Through the organization, she offers basics like food, education, shelter and pysychosocial services. SHOFCO, on the other hand, is a non-profit based in both Nairobi and New York and supports women and men living in slums.

Madonna has 4 adopted kids of Malawian descent, 11-year-old Stella and Estere as well as David Banda, 17, and Mercy James, 16.
