South African pop star Tyla has been announced as part of the Met Gala 2025 Costume Institute Benefit Host Committee, joining a powerhouse lineup that includes André 3000, Simone Biles, Doechii, Ayo Edebiri, and more.
The annual fashion spectacle, set to take place on May 5 at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, is known for bringing together the biggest names in entertainment, fashion, and culture.
This year’s theme, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” will spotlight the craftsmanship and influence of Black fashion throughout history. Attendees are expected to adhere to the dress code, “Tailored for You,” embracing bespoke elegance.
The 2025 gala is being led by co-chairs Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky, Pharrell Williams, and Anna Wintour, with basketball legend LeBron James serving as honorary chair.
Tyla’s rising presence in both music and fashion makes her a fitting addition to the exclusive host committee. Last year, she made waves on the Met Gala red carpet, turning heads in a stunning Balmain sand dress, accessorized with a silver diamond choker, John Hardy earrings, and an hourglass-inspired piece to complement the “Garden of Time” theme.
With her growing influence on the global stage, Tyla’s participation in this year’s event cements her status as a style icon to watch.
