Nike has unveiled a statue of two-time marathon Olympic champion Eliud Kipchoge at its main headquarters the Beaverton, Oregon, USA.
Kipchoge’s sponsors further honored him with a running track named after him in the European headquarters in the Netherlands.
The humble Marathon champion took to social media, to express his gratitude to his sponsors going down memory lane from the day Nike partnered with him.
âTwenty years ago, Nike and I became partners in running. Since 2003, Nike has played a crucial role in my career, providing inspiration and innovation,â the statement read.
âWe unveiled the Eliud Kipchoge Track at the Nike European Headquarters in the Netherlands, while at the same time, Nike revealed a statue of me at the headquarters in Beaverton. Thank you Nike for the great partnership, together we run as one,â he added.
This becomes the second art piece made in Kipchoge’s image, in 2022, Nairobi sculpting couple, Mandela Cleophas and Cheryl Nagawa made a breathtaking sculpture of the athlete’s torso.
Kipchoge recently became the first man in history to win the Berlin Marathon five times.
