The 3rd edition of the Women in Film awards is scheduled to take place on 9th March 2022.
We all have to agree, the Film industry in Kenya is growing, and with more Films having premiered during the holidays last year, it is evident that more and more Creatives are getting into the business of filmmaking.
Therefore to support Local content, the women in film awards aims to empower women in Kenya to embrace Filmmaking, as well as encourage them to present the world as they experience it through filming the world.
‘’When you walk into that room, own it, don’t be sorry for being a woman, don’t ever be sorry for being a woman. Take that chair and own that space. Own it unapologetically’’ Chief Guest CAS youth and ICT Miss Nadia Ahmed Abdalla at the women in film awards last year.
She also added that that she was saddened by the fact that in some films, women are not given their full credits and she continued to urge women not to shy away from who they are and what they bring to the table.

The Nominees this year, include Mumbi Maina, Betty Kathungu, Ivy Kiiru, AnnStella Karimi, Neha Manoj, Voline Ogutu, Faith Musembi, Lydia Matata, Sanaipei Tande, Ruth Maingi, Ayanna Gitau, Maureen Koech, among others selected in different categories.
In a new Category, Stycie Waweru, Neema Kawa, Torah Nato among others, have been nominated this year as Best Actress Kids. Some of the other additional categories also include Best Digital content creator, Best producer Documentary and Best Producer human rights film.
The Nominees were vetted by jurors and will have to go through public voting to determine the winner for each category. This will be done as from 2nd February to 15th February 2022.
The jurors include, Kenyan Filmmaker Krysteen Savanne, Award winning animator Wixx Mangutha, Filmmaker Daisy Busolo, Actress Joyce Arigi, African Motion Picture CEO Emma Kibunjah and finally Film Lecturer and Actress Suki wanza Nyadawa as Chief Jury.
