President Uhuru Kenyatta finally lifted the dawn to dusk curfew yesterday (20.10.21) much the excitement of many Kenyans.
The curfew with has been in place since March 2020, was put in place by the government as one of the measures to curb the spread of Covid-19.
In his speech during the Mashujaa Day celebrations in Kirinyaga County, the Head of State also directed in-person church gathering reviewed upwards from one-third to two-thirds of the capacity.
“I hereby order and direct the nationwide dusk-dawn curfew to be vacated with immediate effect,” said the President.
Social media users went on to express their relief and joy over the announcement in true Kenyan fashion, with the most hilarious tweets and comments. Many Kenyans just couldn’t wait to express the night life like before at their favorite entertainment establishments.
However, according to the Police, bars in the country will remain closed after 7pm. This announcement which was made after the President vacated the night curfew elicited different reactions from Kenyans.
