New Daystar student body warms up with a B’ Ball floodlit friendly

Daystar University Athi-river campus   recently   held  basketball floodlight games  which was organized by the incoming student government  – DUSA (Daystar University Students Association) and chaired by the Association’s sports secretary Mr.Ezekiel Chubunde. The games which were sponsored by The Nutro Kenya Sossi Company run from 4pm on the chilly Thursday until 11pm, the curfew time at Daystar University.

Participating teams were the Daystar Basketball team which was divided in two teams; Daystar East and Daystar West. There was also a team from Daystar staff members and another composed of the Student government.

Basketball fans were not left out as they formed a team known as Daystar Select and played against  the DUSA  team, scoring 15 baskets against  8 to DUSA. There was also a dunking competition where Victor Gitonga was named the victor and Goodness Diangha was named the dunking victoria.

“As a new government we are looking for interesting ways to ensure that students bond among themselves and also find fun in games,” said an ecstatic Ezekiel.

This event marks the first sporting event since the change of guard in DUSA. Ezekiel  was happy about the turn out  considering the June-July semester in Daystar has always been less eventful.

He is looking forward to more of such events in the upcoming semester which starts mid-August. For now the friendly matches and the ongoing inter-varsity leagues will keep him busy.
