3 Ol’skool lovers rock reggae artists to set the mood #CuffingSeason

The weather has been dreary and oh so gloomy but  music changes everything.

With the clouds overcast, and bouts of drizzling and light showers throughout the month of August, it seems this weather will carry into September. So as you get boo’d up for the cold nights ahead, here are some lovers rock and rock steady artists who will not only impress your lover but also set the mood.

3. Bitty Mclean

He is a British Jamaican artists who made it big in the early 90s. Now aged 46, Bitty plays are tribute concerts. The former UB40 sound engineer and producer continues to deliver some big tunes.

2. John Holt

John Holt made quite the name for himself. As one of Jamaica’s acts in the 70s and 80s, Holt crossed over to the mainstream markets in America and the United Kingdom. Known for his steady rhythmic electric guitar and bass guitar, his lyrics were simple and profound.  He died at age 67 from colon cancer.

1.Alton Ellis

Known as the “Grandfather of Rocksteady,” Alton Ellis’ sound formed the foundation for lover’s rock as we know it today. Rising to fame in the 60s, Ellis crossed sub-genres of reggae having his hand in R&B, ska and eventually rocksteady. He inspired many great artists including Bob Marley, Dennis Brown and John Holt. He died at age 70 from cancer.
