Hotels come with plenty of amenities for travelers and we all know they carry typical toiletries such as sewing kits and toothbrushes just in case you need them. But many properties have other secret amenities that you might not know about, or ever see unless you ask. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hotels are all about offering a fantastic guest experience, so don\u2019t be shy asking for these items, as the worst they can say is no and in the best case you may end up with a more extensive suite or some unique things like chocolate for anniversaries.<\/p>\n\n\n

Room Upgrades<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you\u2019re looking to upgrade your experience but don\u2019t want to pay to upgrade your reservation, try asking for a corner room. They are not only around the same price point as a regular room but also frequently offer guests more space, which is always a plus. At some hotels, if you book a less expensive room available and then ask to upgrade when you get there, you will only pay a slight fee to upgrade rather than having paid a high price when you booked. If you\u2019re celebrating a special occasion like an anniversary or a birthday, be sure to let your accommodation know and you might get an upgrade for free. Note; that while these special occasions might not always end in a stay upgrade, you might get some free wine or treats to help you make your stay a little more celebratory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Late check out<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hotel checkout times are usually listed, but if you\u2019re staying in one of the opulent hotels and you want to stay a little longer in your room or need a place to hang out while you wait on your return flight to avoid checking out early and twiddling your thumbs at the reception area all afternoon, a late checkout option may come in handy. When checking in, you can ask for a late check out. Most of the times they will agree but inform you that they can\u2019t guarantee it until the day you check out. When travelling with an infant or toddler you can request for a late checkout to allow your son or daughter to finish a nap and let you as a parent to pack all their stuff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Extra Linens<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

When staying at a hotel, comfort is top priority and if you find yourself needing to request an additional pillow or blanket to help get a good night\u2019s sleep, you can request that at the front desk. Most hotels will be happy to provide you with extra linens so that you can have a comfortable stay. Make sure to also request for a full set of clean linens if you notice the ones given to you are not up to par. Generally, hotels clean and change bed linens everyday because they have reputations to uphold.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Everything baby<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

More and more frequently, hotels are providing some pretty compelling family friendly amenities and accessories. Right after booking your room you might want to contact the hotel to inform them that you will be coming with a little one. To make your stay a good time and to help you get a peaceful sleep you can kindly ask for a room away from the hotel bar. Many hotels chains offer free use of cribs and high chairs (more frequently) \u2013 just make sure to request yours well in advance. You can also request for an electric kettle (or hot water) to help you prepare instant formula milk, clean the bottle and teats with the boiling water or heat up dinner in the jar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Phone chargers<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Unfortunately, people often forget the power cord in the hurry to get out of the house. If you ask, however, your hotel will be able to provide you with a free-loaner for the duration of your stay. The good news is that a surprising high number of people forget their phone chargers when they check out, so most hotels have plenty on hand to lend to guests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
