Popular Afrobeats star D\u2019banj, has been arrested over alleged fraud.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) via social media, confirmed the arrest of the 42-year-old musician over allegedly fraudulent activities.<\/p>\n\n\n

The ‘Oliver Twist’ hitmaker’s alleged crime is associated with the N-Power Programme – a government scheme set up to address youth unemployment and empowerment launched in 2016 by President Muhammadu Buhari.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The artist, who has claimed to be the brand ambassador for the scheme, turned himself in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ICPC says it is investigating claims by N-Power beneficiaries who say they have not received monthly funds despite payment by the government, alleging a diversion of money worth \u201cbillions of Naira\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The agency said about 10 people had been invited by the ICPC over the last few months to answer questions in connection with the alleged N-Power fraud, and had been granted bail after their detention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Several invitations sent to D’Banj whose real name is Oladapo Daniel Oyebanjo to appear before a team of investigators were ignored, the body said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
