American actress<\/strong> Kerry Washington is suffering from \u201ca lot of anxiety and stress\u201d.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The \u2018Scandal\u2019 alum opened up on her current mental health status on Twitter, where she responded to a fan who questioned why she always seems to tweet in the early hours of the morning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She wrote: \u201cI\u2019m having a hard time sleeping. Lot of anxiety and stress. Thanks for asking.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kerry – who has daughter Isabelle, six, and three-year-old Caleb with husband Nnamdi Asomugha – didn\u2019t explain what has been causing her to feel anxious.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 43-year-old actress has been open about her mental health in the past, as in 2015 she said she prioritises her mental health as much as her physical health.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She said at the time: \u201cI say that publicly because I think it\u2019s really important to take the stigma away from mental health \u2026 My brain and my heart are really important to me. I don\u2019t know why I wouldn\u2019t seek help to have those things be as healthy as my teeth. I go to the dentist. So why wouldn\u2019t I go to a shrink?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And in another interview, Kerry admitted she regularly attends therapy, and said speaking to a professional has helped her learn to be more open with her feelings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She explained: \u201cLearning how to love myself and my body is a lifelong process. But I definitely don\u2019t struggle the way I used to. Therapy helped me realise that maybe it\u2019s OK for me to communicate my feelings. Instead of literally stuffing them down with food, maybe it\u2019s OK for me to express myself.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, the \u2018Little Fires Everywhere\u2019 star previously revealed she is eager to help amplify “marginalised” voices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As reported by The Sauce<\/a> recently, Kerry received several nominations in the 2020 Emmy Awards, these include, an Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited Series nomination for \u2018Little Fires Everywhere\u2019, as well as being included as a producer in the nods for Outstanding Variety Special (for \u2018Live in Front of a Studio Audience\u2019), Outstanding Television Movie (\u2018American Son\u2019), and Outstanding Limited Series (\u2018Little Fires Everywhere\u2019).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 43-year-old mother of two was also included in Time magazine\u2019s Time 100 list of 2014 and in 2018, Forbes named her the eighth highest-paid television actress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
