TV presenter Willis Raburu has revealed that he underwent weight loss surgery for the sake of his health.
The 35-year-old soon to be father of two, confessed to getting gastric bypass surgery in an interview with YouTuber Eve Mungai. He said the medical procedure, that cost him between Ksh 600, 000 to Ksh 900, 000, was prompted by his gym workout sessions being unfruitful.
“I went for gastric bypass surgery. I respect watu wanaenda gym. Gym ni kazi, nilikua na good trainers but nilikua na loss weight but inarudi. Although I had a good gym trainer, I would lose weight and then regain it. By the time I was going for the surgery I was not doing well. I was 164 kgs I needed the surgery because my blood pressure and cholesterol were high,” He uttered.
He adds that the surgery has helped will ultimately help him shed more weight by means of it being instrumental in cutting down his food intake.
Gastric bypass surgery is a procedure that entails the stomach being divided into two sections – a smaller upper pouch and a much larger (remnant) lower pouch. The two sections are then connected after the small intestine is rearranged.

The procedure helps reduce the volume of the stomach, hence reduced food intake. It is prescribed to treat morbid obesity, hypertension, type 2 diabetes among a slew of other conditions.
