Why Wiz Khalifa’s apology for racist claims is not enough

Wiz Khalifa has rubbished claims he’s made racist remarks on his new album.

The 30-year-old rap star has been accused by a South Korean newspaper of making insensitive comments on the track ‘Hot Now’, which features on his ‘Rolling Papers 2′ album.

But Wiz – whose lyrics include, “Smoke got my eyes lookin’ Korean” – explained: “Chill out, I’m not racist. I love all races.” Unfortunately, his apology was not enough to subdue his Asian fans who went on  Instagram to confront the “Black and Yellow” rapper.

The American star said he has some Korean friends and none of them have raised an issue with his lyrics. Speaking to ‘The Breakfast Club’ radio show, Wiz explained: “I have Korean friends who are not offended, so I don’t know those people who are saying that. My art is up for interpretation.”

Wiz Khalifa is yet to recover his public image after his word went viral. The 30-year-old is working towards increasing sales, after the release of his 6th studio album. With the official video of “Rolling Papers 2” coming out on 14.7.2018, Wiz is keen to make a comeback in Hip Hop, after releasing his last album “Blacc Hollywood” in 2014.

Wiz previously admitted his new album is as important to him as his 2006 debut ‘Show and Prove’. And the rap star revealed he feels he now has a point to prove to himself and his fans.

He shared: “This is as important as my first album. That’s the mark I want to make and that’s how I’m coming into it. I had this great career to stand on and all this work I’ve done, but let’s strip all of that away and focus on what I’m about to do right now.

“This is my time to prove what I’m made of now. F**k what we’ve done before. We did that, that’s done now. It’s like, what are we doing right now? This moment is so important. It’s as important as when I first came into the game.”
