RnB heavyweight and a former castmate on the Love and HipHop franchise K. Michelle is no stranger to making unforgettable bops and going all out, as regards her lyrics and videos.
Case in point, The Rain, her take on 90s group New Edition’s classic hit, Can You Stand the Rain, produced by legendary music producers Jimmy Jam Terry Lewis. It was the band’s 3rd single from their 5th studio album Heart Break.
In the 2019 track, the second single off of her album All Monsters are Human, is one of the singer’s best releases. While she may have sampled the iconic boy band’s song, the messages in two hits are nothing alike. Can You Stand the Rain describes a relationship that is going on perfectly well, with the man questioning would stand by him during stormy weather.
K. Michelle’s The Rain, on the other hand, is a sexual innuendo-filled, sensual record that sees the talented vocalist croon about getting down in the bedroom, wetness and what have you. The sexy track was produced by renowned music producer Jazze Pha.
