A group of nurses were “off their faces” after a “nice old man” gave them a cannabis cake.
Staff in Warrington Hospital in Cheshire were left “relaxed” when the grandfather of a patient accidentally gave them a red velvet cake laced with the Class B drug, as a present for looking after his family member.
A hospital worker told the Manchester Evening News: “They were eating the cake and then the next minute the staff members were all off their faces.
“It was brought in by a nice old man as a thank you, but it was full of funny stuff and had them all relaxed.
“There was no impact on the patients whatsoever, but they all knew something was wrong, so the police were called in.”
A report from Lab Bible, Cheshire Police confiscated the cake and tested it. The local police department discovered that there was a load of cannabis in it. It is thought that the cake was baked for an 18th birthday party, but was brought to the hospital by the hapless granddad when he spotted that there was some left.
A police source said: “It was genuinely an error by all parties, even the person who put something in that he shouldn’t have because he didn’t know it was going to the hospital.
“Nobody knew that, and that’s why we’re not taking it any further.”
