Weird World: Donkey arrested by Pakistani police in connection to gambling cartel

Police in Pakistan have arrested a donkey on gambling charges.

The animal was detained by officers after being accused of being involved in a race that saw people place bets on the winner. The donkey was held along with eight men on suspicion of gambling, which is illegal in Pakistan.

Video footage of the animal being tied up outside a police station in the city of Rahim Yar Khan has gone viral.

An unnamed officer from the Rahim Yar Kahn police department said: “The donkey has been arrested as it has been named along with other suspects. The donkey has currently been tied outside the police station.”

If the accused are found guilty, they face being fined thousands of Pakistani Rupees, although it is unclear if the punishment will apply for the donkey.
