The end of the year is approaching and with it comes awards season. Nairobi’s who’s who in beauty entrepreneurship are excited with the prospects of winning top prizes at this year’s Afro Hair Awards 2019.
Kenyan socialite turned businesswoman Vera Sidika has received high honors with a nomination in the ‘Top Salon’ category in the impending awards ceremony. She shared on her social media that she would be nominated for the award in the same category as television show host Betty Kyallo’s Flair by Betty, Susan Kaittany’s Posh Palace Hairstudio and Spa, Phoina Beauty Clinic and KJ’s Beauty Salon and Barbershop. Vera who started the Vera Sidika Beauty Parlour in July 2018 as reported in The Sauce. The parlor has seen her business great quickly partly due to her celebrity and the great service offered at the beauty parlor.

Other key categories in this year’s individual awards include ‘Bridal Stylist of The Year’, ‘Barber of The Year’, ‘Loctician of The Year’, as well as ‘Creative Student of The Year’. The stylists of Posh Palace Hairstudio and Spa have been entered into six categories while Flair by Betty’s stylists are in for only one award aside from the ‘Salon of the Year’ award.
The Afro Hair Awards 2019 is the 5th edition of the prestigious industry awards. Starting in 2015, the Afro Hair Awards brings together hundreds of young talented and experienced gurus in the hair industry from all regions to
celebrate excellence and raise the industry standards. The event is set for November 15th and 16th 2019.
