The team that developed ‘The Student’ app

A team of students from the Department of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering have developed an app that connects students and lecturers of the same field on a social platform.

The app dubbed ‘The Student’ is a socio-educational platform that epitomizes on the knowledge and ability of the student to succeed by providing him/her with sufficient resources and course materials such as class lecture notes, books and past papers.

The app allows a user to set up an account as a lecturer or a student. Through the application students can access lecture notes and books sent by lecturer by simply going to the appropriate unit of the course. Users can also get the latest school news updates and important information such as scholarships and internships can be viewed in the notices section.

A lecturer user account requires input fields of the university, course, units taught and name. Lecturers can upload lecture notes and handouts for various units taught in different years. The app allows for forum discussions in which students and lecturers can interact.
