Three University of Nairobi (UoN) students have been arraigned in court charged with stealing food stuff from the Universities the main Kitchen.
Nairobi Chief Magistrate Francis Andayi heard that on March 29th, 2013 during the institution’s unrest in which 200 students at the main campus, several items including food stuff were stolen from the kitchen and were only spotted in the accused persons rooms when ceilings were being repaired.
On carrying out further investigations, 75Kgs of Rice,20kgs of Sugar, 8kgs of lentils, cooking fat, bar soaps, a packet of tea leaves among other items were recovered. Other items were found hidden in suitcases in the rooms. Allegedly the three had been using their suitcases to sneak out the items for sale.
However, Kennedy Kiplagat Ngeno, Isaac Isika Musya and Andrew Peter Odhiambo all first year students at the University of Nairobi denied stealing the university kitchen shopping worth Sh.13,500.
They were freed on a cash of Sh20, O00 or bond of 50,000 each pending trial.
