Kenya Commercial Bank lions walloped University of Nairobi Mean Machine in the finals of the annual Great Rift Valley 10-aside rugby tournament in Nakuru usually held over the Easter holiday. KCB’s Ian Indimuli and Jacob Ojee crossed the line to hand the lions a well deserved 10-0 win, though the students put up a spirited fight.

KCB had registered the same result to see off Impala in the semis while Mean Machine went past Homeboyz to reach the final. Last year’s champions, Strathmore Leos settled for the Bowl cup when they beat Western Bulls 26-13. Mean Machine’s Mitch Ayiesta emerged the top try scorer in the event.

But it seems there was more action off the pitch than on the pitch as most of the attendants mingled freely on the backdrop of food joints and entertainment spots at the Nakuru Athletic Club. With beautiful ladies, barely dressed in spite of the cold weather, there was plenty to watch in between the games.

Meanwhile, in Nairobi, Strathmore dominated the Kenya University Sports Association (KUSA) games held at Kenyatta University. Strathmore won four major sports categories out of the possible nine. Strath won the men and women basketball titles, beating KU and Nazarene respectively in the finals. They also took home the two hockey titles in a convincing win over rivals. Kenyatta University won the ladies and gents handball cups while the Technical University of Kenya beat Strathmore 3-1 in football.
