After the release of results for candidates of 2016 KCSE examination, the placement process has been hastened to find universities and colleges for KCSE students nationwide. With the implementation of the Matiang’i reforms, the students who attained a mean grade of C+ and above will find themselves situated in private and public institutions of higher education. The transition of candidates from secondary school to university is known to be lengthy, and costly due to the high price of education.

According to a government sanctioned placement service provider, the placement cycle began in November 2016 and ended on 15th January 2017.  Self-sponsored students and government sponsored students previously had to battle it out for the few vacancies in various courses, but with the reforms in the education sector will see more opportunities for all as fewer students are admitted into the institutions.

According to a press release from the CEO of Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service, Mr. John Muraguri has lots to say to dispell the misinformation circulating on social media. KUCCPS CEO wrote, “Any information regarding the placement of Government-sponsored students to universities and colleges that may be circulating on social media and other online platforms does not emanate from the Placement Service and should be ignored.”
