The Masaka Kids Africana have received special recognition from Black Entertainment Television (BET) for their ‘Tootsie Slide’ video that went viral.
Earlier this month, Canadian, American-based rapper Drake released a new single called the ‘Tootsie Slide’ which elicited massive reaction across the world.
Drake’s song includes some pretty simple dance moves that have taken over the internet especially TikTok, as earlier reported on The Sauce. It has become the fastest music trend to reach a billion views on TikTok, with the star smashing the record previously held by Kylie Jenner.
The Masaka Kids Africana decided to jump on the challenge and three days ago, they released their video that BET has been credited to be the best among the thousands of fans that have participated.
Recorded in the urban settlements of Uganda, the Masaka Kids are seen dancing bare foot to Drake’s song, pulling off some serious Michael Jackson moves. The 1-minute video has captured more than 800k views on Instagram, and more than 70K views on YouTube.
On their official Twitter handle, BET re-shared the video giving the youngsters the crown. And Drake even took notice of the talented dance troupe.
“This is officially the best Toosie Slide!” BET posted.

In February, they danced to Eddy Kenzo’s Tweyagale and the video on YouTube has more than 19 million views.
