Ugandan musician Eddy Kenzo could soon return to the country after Parliament requested the government to look into his issue.
The Speaker of the Ugandan Parliament Rebecca Kadaga on Wednesday tasked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to repatriate the singer back to the country.
In a Parliament session, the speaker divulged that she had spoken on phone with Eddy Kenzo, adding that the musician had reportedly spent all his earnings, and is stranded in Ivory Coast.
“I’d like to call upon the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to offer him help so that he can be assisted or maybe come nearer. We are on a mission to assist him to come home and also to cover his bills” Kadaga said, adding that she will inform President Yoweri Museveni to assist in this matter.
“For him, it is even worse because he is in a French-speaking country. Life is not as easy as it would be if he was in an English-speaking country where he could talk with people and get assistance,” Kadaga tweeted.
Eddy Kenzo is currently stranded in Ivory Coast where the lock down found him.
He had traveled to perform at the Masa Fest on 16th March 2020. After his performance, the ‘Semyekozo’ hit maker chose to stay behind to finish up some projects and just when he thought about flying back to the country, the ban had already been issued.
