Trey Songz pays tribute to Jill Scott with a new release “Jill (Sumn Real)”.
American RnB sensation Trey Songz’ new song “Jill (Sumn Real)” was inspired by songstress Jill Scott. The track comes hot off the release of Scott gesturing fellatio on a microphone while onstage at a recent concert in Tampa Florida. The “He Loves Me” songstress received huge backlash as the video went viral on Twitter, with many fans disappointed at the sexual acts Scott was gesturing onstage. Memes were made while others commented about Jill’s raunchiness. But in the midst of the negative press, Trey Songz showed his appreciation for Jill Scott by even having the blurred image of Jill Scott on the microphone from last week as his cover photo for the song.
“Sumn Real” is a sample of Jill Scott’s hit song “He Loves Me ” off Scott’s 2000-release “Who Is Jill Scott? Words and Sounds Vol. 1” in which the Songz delivers his lyrics in a seductive tone while Scott’s soulful vocals are mixed in the chorus. “Give me sumn real, we need love to relieve pain,” Trigga sings.
Trey, 33, recently dropped a pair of new tracks, “How Dat Sound” with rappers 2 Chainz and Yo Gotti, which was followed by “Shootin Shots” featuring Canadian Tory Lanez and rapper Ty Dolla $ign. Jill Scott has responded to the lovely gesture by Songz, with her seal of approval via Instagram.
