We all know that class-mate or colleague that has a messy work station. You wonder how they get things done with all that clutter. Or perhaps you are that person. Worry not. You are in the company of some of the most creative people in the world who work best with a cluttered desk; Mark Twain, Mark Zuckerberg, Steve Jobs and Albert Einstein are some of the top creatives that are in the group of cluttered desks.

According to medium.com, a study conducted by the University of Minnesota found that people with a messy desk were more prone to creativity and risk taking, while people at cleaner desks tended to follow strict rules and were less likely to try new things or take risks. Dr. Vohs and her co-authors conclude in the study, “Disorderly environments seem to inspire breaking free of tradition, which can produce fresh insights.”
