The Tomorrow Leaders Festival that was held this past weekend was a major bust as popular acts, Diamond Platnumz from Tanzania and Nigerian songbird Yemi Alade did not perform.
As reported by The Sauce previously there were major hiccups during the show that almost made the show flop like the lack of organization, a late start to the show, no dome for concert goers as well as talks about no payment for artists but performances by Grammy award-winning reggae group Morgan Heritage, Ghana’s Stonebwoy, Uganda’s Jose Chameleone and Jamaica’s Alaine saved the day.
Now, according to Gramps Morgan, the reason why the two artists did not perform at the much-publicized event despite chants from the audience for Diamond Platnumz to perform was that they got sick due to the harsh cold and rainy weather in Nairobi.
However, this might just be an excuse to save face as they are many rumours in the air as to why they did not perform. According to a source close to the artists, the real reason why they were a no- show at the event was because of the poor organisation of the event, apparently Diamond even refused to get on stage to do a rushed performance in the wee hours of Sunday morning. Also, the two artists have not backed up the statement from Morgan Heritage that they were sick.
On the other hand, Yemi Alade posted a cryptic message on her Instagram stories early Sunday morning saying that this trip to Nairobi has been the worst so far indicating that things were not right between them. The ‘Bounce’ hitmaker who was allegedly sick was earlier live on TV for a popular reggae show on Saturday evening a few hours before her supposed performance.
Top East African musician Naseeb Abdul alias Simba who had posted repeatedly on his social media about performing at the event only a few hours before his performance has not said anything since he failed to perform but he released the most anticipated ‘Inama’ video ft Congolese singer Fally Ipupa on Sunday morning. He was also seen dancing to ‘Inama’ in an Instagram video posted by his Kenyan girlfriend Tanasha Donna Oketch.

Other people who were also missing at the event were Kenyan top model Ajuma Nasenyana and Media personality Jeff Koinange who were supposed to be on host duties. Word is that their names were used to get many people to come through the for the event.
The Morgan Heritage family have also been faulted for not involving Kenyan promoters and organisers something that also contributed to the event that had been billed as a memorable one with over seven top acts to almost flop.
