After being confirmed as the replacement of Kanye West’s Coachella headline performance, The Weeknd now wants to be paid as much as the embattled rapper, or else..
According to Page Six, the Blinding Lights superstar wants to paid no less than $8.5 million, which was the money allotted to Kanye for his Coachella performance. This is just after The Weeknd was announced as Kanye’s replacement, with Swedish House Mafia.
Reports have it that Kanye was offered a whopping $8 million plus additional production costs amounting to $5 million. The organizers were reportedly caught offguard by Kanye backing off from his performance. His bailing out is being attributed to the rapper choosing to ‘seek help and stay out of the public eye after all the drama with Kim and Pete.’
The anticipation for this year’s edition of the festival heightened after it was also reported that Kanye would be joined onstage by Travis Scott. This would have been the rapper’s only second time on stage since the Astroworld Festival tragedy in November last year.
