The American Music Awards are slated to take place on 23 November 2020, and as the award show nears the nominees list has finally been reveled with a few surprise acts featured.
Ethiopian-American rapper The Weeknd is leading with 8 nominations, and raptress Meg Thee Stallion got 5 nods; her first time gaining a AMA nomination. The Weeknd is nominated in the ‘Artist of the Year’ category alongside ‘Holy’ crooner Justin Bieber, Swift and Post Malone, Roddy Ricch and Taylor Swift.
According to a CNN report, Swift is the current record-holder for most wins in that category with five and could a break her own record for most AMA wins of all time, 29, should she win in any of the four categories she’s currently nominated in.

Last year according to a previous report on The Sauce, Taylor Swift broke records collecting several awards including the highly covetted ‘Artist of the Year’ award. The ‘Man’ singer surpassed the late Michael Jackson’s previous record of 24 accolades after triumphing as Artist of the Decade, Artist of the Year, Favorite Artist – Adult Contemporary, Favorite album – Pop/Rock for ‘Lover’, Favorite Music Video for ‘You Need to Calm Down’, and Favorite Female Artist – Pop/Rock, taking her total to 29.
