Mother’s Day was celebrated on 10th May 2020, and the annual calendar holiday saw some of Kenya’s top celebrities shares some sweet messages in commemoration of their mothers.
1.Nick Mutuma
It is no secret that the MTV Shuga star Nick Mutuma has had a complex relationship with his daughter’s mother Bridget Shagidi. But despite the drama, the duo are friends and always have love for one another. Nick shared some very sweet pictures in celebration of the special women in his life. Shagidi went on to share on her social media, “being a mother has taught me to love way harder than I thought I ever could. Being a mother is such a blessing honestly and I never for once take it for granted.”

2. Patricia Kihoro
Patricia Kihoro has a very close relationship with her mother, and this Mother’s Day she shared a poem of sorts for her special mummy.

3.Eko Dydda
Gospel star Eko Dydda has a lovely family, and he owes it all to his douting wife. Taking to Instagram, he let the whole world know that his wife is a rare breed, even calling her a gem. The twosome has had a strained relationship when Eko’s wife Sylvia Ayugi walked away from their marriage on infidelity claims based on reports. The news hit the press, she noted “I have to move on and I want the world to know we are not longer living together. After nine years, I have finally left the marriage and I live in a separate place.” The couple reconciled after working through their differences, and now enjoy a happy union.
4. Octopizzo
Often known for his clever lyrics and outspoken persona, rapper Octopizzo was reflective will celebrating Mother’s Day. Taking to social media, he went on to honor his late mother who he lost in 2003. Don Papichulo as he is known to fans, shared an image of himself standing by his mother’s casket. The post was a sobering reminder that even though some mothers have passed, on their presence is still felt beyond the grave.

5. Lupita Nyong’o
The award winning actress Lupita Nyong’o recognized her mother for her unconditional love. Lupita who also has 5 other siblings gave her mother the highest compliment, stating “be as fully present to my children and as whole within myself as my mother has been for us and for herself.

6.Akothee
The controversial public figure Akothee went on to celebrate motherhood, in a series of posts. Sharing an image of her mother Yunita Akinyi Ogendi, she went on to point out that her mother’s acceptance went on to become her driving force. She acknowledged her mother as her hero, and even celebrated other mothers with a special giveaway. A single mother herself, Akothee is the embodiment of strong mothers, who can do it all.

7. Janet Mbugua
The former news anchor Janet Mbugua took to social media to celebrate all forms of motherhood. She wrote, “To those who are alive, those who’ve left us, first-time mothers, last time mothers, single mums, adopting mothers, one-day mothers, I’m-not-sure-i-want-to-be mothers, all mothers. All. Of. Them. During this difficult time, it’s the gift that allows us to have hope for tomorrow.” The mother of two and author has been vocal about the various challenges faced by women, including period poverty as well as mum guilt, shining a spotlight on all women, and their often forgotten struggles.
