The Rock may miss out on ‘Fast & Furious 9’
American wrestler-turned-actor Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has admitted he is unlikely to star in ‘Fast and Furious 9’. According to a report by BangShowbiz, the 46-year-old actor who stars as Luke Hobbs in the Fast and Furious franchise spin-off movie ‘Hobbs & Shaw’ that is set to premiere on 2nd August 2019, has admitted that his on-screen character is unlikely to appear in the much-anticipated action movie, although he could still return to the film series in the future.

The “Skyscraper” actor who will star alongside Jason Statham movie later this year reportedly said that “The plan has always been for the ‘Fast and Furious’ universe to grow and expand. “As of now, we’re not in ‘Fast 9’ because they’re getting ready to start shooting. But who knows with ‘Fast 10’ and down the road, you never know.”
This, however, does not come as a surprise as The Rock has previously revealed some of his frustrations about the franchise. In August 2016 while filming Fast 8, The Rock went on social media to say that some of his male co-stars were unprofessional.
In 2017, The Rock had beef with co-star and rapper Tyrese Gibson over his comments about Tyrese’s ability to take care of his daughter Shayla and Tyrese retaliated by saying if Dwayne is in Fast9 there will no more ‘Roman Peirce’, which is Tyrese’s Fast & Furious screen name.
Also in September 2017 speculation surfaced that The Rock may be in talks for a spinoff centered around his Fast & Furious character, Tyrese was seemingly not impressed and cautioned The Rock against it.
In October 2017 Fast & Furious 9’s release date was pushed back and according to Tyrese, it may have been The Rock’s fault because The Rock allegedly made it all about himself.
The 9th installment of the most anticipated action movie is set to premiere in April 2019.
