  • Grand launch on Saturday comes ahead of public opening on Sunday, 3 April.
  • Destination operated by Flying Fox to international safety standards.

Saturday 2 April 2022, Nairobi, Kenya. The Hub Karen, Nairobi’s premier shopping mall set in the heart of the Karen district, has announced that it is opening a new outdoor aerial adventure destination. ‘JUMP @ The Hub’ caters to thrill-seekers of all ages – including families – ahead of the busy Easter holidays.

The “Adrenaline Hub” includes high speed racing ziplines, freefall jumping into a giant airbag, and a giant swing that flings three people a time through a 10m arc. Adults with a sense of adventure (while being over 1.4m tall and under 120kg) can enjoy these activities and more.

For younger children, there is a 40m kids zipline to enjoy. Parents will be able to watch their children take part in the activities, join in themselves, or explore other new additions to The Hub Karen. These include a new food hall serving Japanese and Chinese food among other cuisines, along with a dessert station.

The mall is hosting a grand launch this Saturday, where journalists, special guests, and 50 members of the public will try out the activities for themselves. It comes ahead of the wider public opening on Sunday 3 April.

The JUMP brand of aerial adventure activities is provided by Flying Fox, an experienced adventure provider operating to international safety standards. The installation has been fully inspected and certified to EN15567 and ISO4309 standards. Flying Fox also operates the very successful six-zipline tour in Kereita Forest, Kimende. JUMP’s instructors will be on site at all times to provide safety training and supervision to both adults and children taking part.

The opening of this new space is the first in a series at The Hub Karen for further entertainment projects, reinforcing the mall’s position as a full week destination for shopping, as well as entertainment activities. The multi-purpose space will also be available for private booking and corporate events following the Easter holidays.

Jump from our top platform at 14m and try to kick a punchbag (while safely attached to an auto belay)

  • KES 1,000

Activity Description

The top of our Drop Tower is too high for the Airbag Jump, so we came up with the Leap of Faith. Leap from the 14m top platform whilst attached to a TruBlue auto belay device and try to kick or grab the punchbag positioned 3-4m away from the platform. The TruBlu is a safety device that lowers you automatically to the ground. This activity is suitable for 4 years and above within the weight limit of 10-150kg.

  1. CLIMBING

A 13m artificial rock-climbing wall with easy, medium, and hard routes

During a climbing session you’ll be given guidance from an instructor who will also belay you (hold the safety rope) on both sides of the wall. Session typically last 30 minutes depending on the group size which is a maximum of 12. Our climbing wall is suitable for ages 5 to 85 and up to 120kg. This is an activity you’ll want to keep returning to, to improve your technique.

  1. ABSEILING

Also known as rappelling, lower yourself down our 13m climbing wall

  • KES 800

Activity Description

Lower yourself like a Commando down our 13m climbing wall (whilst we hold a backup safety line). You may have already climbed the wall, but it looks a whole lot higher from the top! This activity is suitable for those 1.4m or above and under 120kg.

  1. GIANT SWING

3 participants are hoisted up 8m, we pull a quick release and then plunge, swing and keep swinging!

  • KES 800

Activity Description

3 participants are attached to a swing, hoisted up to 8m by an electric winch and then we (or the participants) pull a quick release rip cord to plummet back down to earth and keep swinging! This activity is suitable for anyone above 1.4m and below 120kg.
