Teenage siblings rebuilding classic motorbike for Concours

15 year old Amy Wanday and her 17 year old brother Ted will be contesting the competition motorcycle class of the CBA Africa Concours d’Elegance on September 28th at the Nairobi Racecourse.

Amy is preparing the 1990 Honda CR 80 which won the completion motorcycle class last year in the hands of Andre Antoine. Ted will be appearing in the motorcycle judging ring for the second time with his 1993 Yamaha YZ 125 which was the runner-up in the class. Ted is working hard to improve the standards he achieved last year and is keen to take home the first prize.

The eight motorcycle classes are bristling with new competitors who are preparing bikes which will be appearing at the Nairobi Racecourse for the first time. They are members of the Cruzin Kings Club who enjoy leisure riding on big bikes. Shane Arvin will ride a 900cc Harley Davidson made in 1999 around the judging ring and TumainiMuthiga has a 1650 cc Yamaha Roadstar. The largest two wheeler on the list at presentis the 1950cc Big Dog of Simon Richey.

They bring a teenage element into the growing list of competitors in the classiest event on the Kenya Motor Sport calendar.

Spectators interested in owning a classic car, or motorcycle will be able to view a selection of machines made in 1989, or earlier which will be on display in the Classic Sale. Cars on offer will be parked along the edge of the Racecourse inside the car competitors’ enclosure and bikes will be located at the motorcycle judging ring. The sale is open to 30 entries which usually range from near showroom condition to cars which are in need of restoration.
