Tech Talk: Vivo launches y20 with AI Triple camera

Vivo smartphone has officially announced the availability of its latest mid-range smartphone the vivo Y20 in Kenya. Priced at Ksh 13,999, the device will also be live on Jumia.  

The mid-range device comes with advanced features for performance, a premium design, as well as combining a cutting edge AI triple camera to seamlessly capture moments with enough detail and perfection. This combination goes in line with the brand’s focus on offering stylish smartphones infused with trendsetting technologies at the most competitive price points.

The device comes with an AI Triple macro camera setup featuring a 13MP primary camera with a 2MP macro and a 2MP bokeh cameras and an 8MP front camera having af/2.2 large aperture and PDAF technology (Phase Detection Autofocus) to seamlessly capture breath-taking photos with more clear details.

For the battery, Y20 comes with a super-capacity battery of 5000mAh to provide a long-lasting experience. With AI power-saving technology, a single full charge can provide up to 16 hours of online HD movie streaming or 11 hours of resource-intensive gaming action. Along with an 18W fast charger, the Y20 also supports reverse charging via OTG cable that covers other devices, a feature that has been high on demand.

The phone also has a cleverly designed side-mounted fingerprint scanner that adapts to your daily phone use, making phone unlocking instantaneous and intuitive in just 0.22 seconds.

It will run on Funtouch OS 10.5 based on Android 10 powered by the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon Processor 460 with 4GB RAM and 64 GB ROM to support the storage needs. The micro card slot supports memory expansion of up to 256GB. The smartphone’s overall performance is also managed and improved by exclusive Multi Turbo 3.0 that works at the system’s base level, and an AI Turbo predicts and resolves system abnormalities before they happen.

The Vivo Y20 comes in after Vivo was ranked among the top five international smartphone manufacturers in Q3 2020, representing a clear year-on-year growth. The ranking is based on Q3 data for the global smartphone market released by well-known international market research entities, Canalys, and the International Data Corporation (IDC).

Numbers from both entities indicated that vivo’s mobile phone shipments remained among the top five in the world. Meanwhile, the Canalys data indicated that vivo ranked fifth worldwide, with 31.8 million shipments.

The new Vivo Y20 will be available in the stylish color schemes of Obsidian Black and Nebula Blue online and offline from today.
